We are an independent, family-run funeral director based in Mount Hawke, Cornwall.
Our private mortuary and chapel of rest adjoin our family home, so there is always someone close by, day and night. Your loved one will never be alone while they are in our care.
Whether you choose cremation or burial, a religious or non-religious service, we’ll draw on a wealth of expertise to design a funeral or celebration of life that respects the individual and provides a fitting tribute to your loved one.
We strive to be flexible and respectful of your family’s wishes at every step.
The people who will look after you
Meet the Team
We are a small team, and you will get to know us personally.
Here are the people you will meet when you come to Carlyon Funeral Directors:

Andrea Myhill (née Carlyon)
funeral Director & owner
Andrea was born into the Carlyon family of Mount Hawke, whose well-respected haulage business has been a mainstay of the village for generations. Her passion for caring for people led her to establish Carlyon Funeral Directors in 2018, and it has since become an award-winning and much-trusted funeral director, serving families across mid-Cornwall and beyond. Andrea meets and guides every family personally, from the first phone call to the day itself and the aftercare that follows.

Dave Myhill
transportation & mortuary care
Andrea’s husband, Dave, is a former search and rescue operative, so he is exactly the calm, steady person you want beside you when things are difficult. He heads up our mortuary care alongside Lauren, and over the years he has created some truly stunning and imaginative funeral transport displays. When he’s not at Carlyon, you’ll most likely find him up a ladder somewhere locally, in his other role as a roofer and builder. Our office, mortuary and chapel of rest stand as a testament to Dave’s building skills.

Lauren
mortuary & funeral care
Before joining us, Lauren spent seven years as an NHS cancer and maternity healthcare assistant. Her gentle, caring nature is a real blessing, both to us at Carlyon and to the families we support in their time of loss. While Lauren has been involved with Carlyon since the beginning, we were thrilled to invite her to join the team officially in 2025.

Clive
SEXTON & bearer
Clive is Parish Sexton for St Agnes and an invaluable friend and fount of wisdom for us at Carlyon. Clive’s family has cared for the parish cemeteries in St Agnes for approaching half a century! More about Clive can be found in this interview with St Agnes Parish Council.
